There’s no easy way around it. No matter how talented you are, your talent is going to fail you if you’re not skilled, if you don’t study, work really hard and dedicate yourself to getting better every single day. – Will Smith
A Mind For Success
As a forward thinking school, we always consider new opportunities to help all members of the school community. Across the school, children are supported to have 'A Mind for Success'. This focuses on mindsets and includes encouraging children, staff and parents to promote a 'growth' mindset. The school has developed this approach following research and CPD for staff members and is an approach that draws on the work of John Hattie and the research of Carol Dweck.
In order to develop this, we teamed up with Tony Swainston, a local consultant, who specialises in leadership and the principles of mindsets.
The theory supports the whole school community implementing metacognition. This was a collaborative project with 9 other schools serving 'service communities' led by Mrs Barnes. We continue to develop our work on growth mindsets as we believe that developing growth mindsets improves outcomes for everyone.
