Welcome to our school website. I hope that it gives you a flavour of our school.
Le Cateau is a mainstream Primary School that is committed to inclusive education and meeting the needs of all the children in its care. We ensure that everybody is given the opportunity to ‘shine’ – our motto ‘Equally Important, Equally Different’ recognises the diversity of the children.
At Le Cateau we are proud of our pupils and staff, and the positive atmosphere they create. It’s important to us that we provide academic vigour within a supportive and inviting environment where pupils enjoy learning, feel safe and make a positive contribution. This is reflected in our last Ofsted Report (September 2022). The report stated that 'There is a definite family feel to the school. The pastoral support that pupils receive matches the high academic expectations staff have for pupils. Whether you are a pupil who attends the school for several years or a pupil who might spend a few weeks at the school, you will receive the same attention and opportunities.'
The school serves a marvellous diverse community with over 70% of the children coming from Service backgrounds and the remainder from the wider local community. Our children come from a range of countries and cultural backgrounds including British, Nepali, Fiji and African Nations. This unique range of backgrounds enables the school to share and celebrate with the local community and to maintain the motto; ‘Equally Important, Equally Different’.
Ours is a caring school where the children are warmly received and encouraged throughout their time with us to ‘aim high’, fulfil their potential and engage with all the opportunities the school has to offer. We firmly believe that for this to be best achieved we must establish a genuine partnership between home and school. We work hard to engage with our parents/carers and I do encourage you to get involved in the work and life of our school whenever and wherever you can.
I know we make a difference and I hope you will enjoy the journey with us.
Mr Ian Mottram
